Do you know Elicser?
.jpg)
With his abstract, colourful style, Elicser has gained huge respect and popularity in Toronto and around the world.

Recently we’ve been meeting with Elicser and planning out a design for our wall. We gave him our concept:

He saw this picture and quickly sketched out this (amazing) wall design.

We’ll keep meeting with Elicser and hopefully get this big empty canvas on our building painted soon. Check back for updates

First we brainstormed a logo

Soon we decided (with our designer’s help) on this logo.

The last step is to paint the wall, heres our best design so far.
We haven’t painted the design up yet, let us know what you think, we’re always open to feedback and suggestions.
Talk to you soon,

On August 20th, Scott Pilgrim v. The World comes out in theatres worldwide, and Artik is the co-star. Many of the shirts seen on Michael Cera throughout the movie were printed right here in Artik last year.
The movie is actually based on a comic book that a few Artik employees are admittedly hooked on!

Little Miss Piggy?
Want to hear something strange? A T-Shirt printer here at Artik used pig’s blood to print a shirt! Want to here something stranger? He’s a vegetarian!
Since all of the equipment was sterilized and the blood was going to be discarded anyway, Artik is happy to know that the shirt worked out well for our (psycho?) employee!
Check out Purity Control’s music at http://www.myspace.com/purityxcontrol and order your own (non pig-blood) shirts at www.artik.com
Talk to you soon!

Photographer from the Toronto Sun comes to snap a few pics of Rafi and Saul with their I HEART TTC buttons! Look for the article in the paper tomorrow!

Since the photos of a TTC driver sleeping on the job, were published, the fight between TTC employees and the public has been intensifying. Accusations, Facebook groups and lots of hurt feelings. This morning reading my newspaper I was imagining how the tensions play out. How commuters mutter obscenities under their breath, how drivers speed away leaving a commuter running to the door to wait in the freezing cold for the next bus or street car. Nobody wins.
How unfortunate, here in peaceful Toronto, two groups of working people making each others already hard lives just a bit harder.
Wake Up! It’s February in Toronto, it is freezing, it is grey, it is downright miserable. All we have left is our human connection to cheer each other up. Let’s declare PEACE.
Let’s give peace an option, OK that sounds bad,
Give Peace a chance.
But How:
Start by wearing one of these buttons, the cost is FREE! We are giving 500 buttons to anyone coming into Artik. Take one for yourself and another to give to a TTC employee!
Send the message of love and peace and a warm smile to bring some sunshine to Toronto in February.
We are at 314 Adelaide Street East, Just East of Sherbourne. www.artik.com
On behalf of Distress Centres, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Artik for the generous support of our twelfth annual B.A.D Ride (Bikers Against Despair). Given the summer we had, we could not have asked for better weather on Sunday, May 31, 2009! Under sunny skies approximately 1150 motorcycles and over 1500 participants joined Distress Centres for our annual event. And, what a day it was! Incredibly, the event again raised more than $200,000 in support of the life-sustaining programs offered by our agency. As always, because of the significant contributions of our sponsors, we are proudly able to say that 100% of the dollars raised by our riders goes directly to support service delivery.
The B.A.D. Ride continues to be Distress Centres’ number one community outreach event. And, Artik has played an essential role in its success. We have and will continue to identify your support throughout the year whenever an opportunity arises. We are proud to name you at every opportunity as a sponsor of this incredible event and a supporter of this essential service. When we say “There’s a life on the line”, we mean it. Thank you for being a link in our lifeline so that we can provide a lifeline for those in need.
